Act General Secretary meets PM Oli

The General Secretary of the ACT Alliance Dr John Nduna, the Country Director of Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Dr Prabin Manandhar and Regional Representative  of  Dan Church Aid  Mr David Smith  convened a meet with  Prime Minister (PM)  K.P Oli and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affair (MoFA) Mr Kamal Thapa  on Tuesday evening. 

During the meet, Dr Nduna shared about the alliance’s assistance to earthquake affected population in Nepal and asked Prime Minister’s perspective on modality to design upcoming activities on behalf of the alliance.

PM Oli briefed the team about the damage due to the devastating earthquake and highlighted that people are in need of assistance in shelter , WASH, psychosocial , food security among others. He asked Act Alliance to consult National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) to design its upcoming Nepal earthquake response activities.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affair (MoFA) Mr Kamal Thapa expressed happiness to know about the Alliance’s humanitarian assistance to earthquake affected population through  its’  members in Nepal.

 Dr John Nduna arrived here in Kathmandu today for monitoring and learning visit. He was not able to make his visit earlier with the other members of ACT Alliance held in January 10- 17, 2016. Robert W. Radtke, president at Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) had accompanied John.

The week-long visit would basically focus on assessing the extent of accomplishments of the objectives of the programmes proposed by ACT Alliance in terms of its support to the earthquake affected populations. Mr. John Nduna is slated to return on 13th of March, 2016.(Photo and Story by Umesh Pokharel)
